  • Set your web browser security level to medium.
  • Clear your Internet cache.
  • Enable access specifically for http://my.infotriever.com/ on any pop-up window blocking software (e.g. Google, Yahoo!) you may be using (we do NOT serve up pop-up ads, but these may interfere with your usage of Infotriever).
  • Keep the organizer you want to use with Infotriever open when you try and download items (this is not generally necessary but can sometimes help).
  • Allow outbound traffic through your (or your company’s) firewall configuration to the following 3 sites via HTTP (port 80) and HTTPS (port 443):

Q: ExecAssist™:  How do I set up or resolve issues with my ExecAssist installation?

A:

ExecAssist Setup

You can access ExecAssist from the right mouse click menu option on the Infotriever icon.  If this feature is not visible from the right mouse click menu, then you will need to personalize your Infotriever.  To personalize your Infotriever, please click on “Personalize my Infotriever” – “New Users” from the Infotriever icon context menu, and follow the on-screen instructions.  Please note that to use ExecAssist, the Assistants and Executives must have Infotriever installed and personalized.

To view step-by-step instructions on setting up ExecAssist, please see our online walkthroughs.

ExecAssist Troubleshooting

  • Please ensure that all users have Infotriever set up and configured before setting up ExecAssist.  Also ensure that all users have personalized their install of Infotriever.

  • In order for your executive to receive information forwarded by you via ExecAssist, please ensure that your executive has a live Internet connection; pending information will be added hourly.  To force immediate receipt of information you have forwarded, have your Executive right click their Infotriever icon from the System Tray and select "Check for Information Updates Now".

  • If you have ExecAssist set up but it still does not give you the option to select different calendars, try exiting Infotriever and restarting it.

  • If your permission email fails to send and you get a message bounced back to you stating that you cannot route email in this fashion, try forwarding the email directly to the recipient.

  • Please make sure when you personalize your Infotriever that you complete all of the First Name, Last Name and an Email Address fields.

Q: Time Zones:  How does Infotriever handle time zones?

A:

The Infotriever software and service does support the capability to insert events in different time zones, however this capability may not be used in specific instances, the most notable of which is in the travel industry.  Infotriever time zone support is predicated on two things:  1) Infotriever recognizing the user's time zone at the time they insert the event into their calendar; and 2) the enabled website or service communicating the time zone of the event to Infotriever so that we may shift it to account for the difference in time zones.

In most cases, both of these conditions will be fulfilled and the event will display correctly based on your time zone.  Thus, for example, if you are in GMT, and you download an event in GMT-5, Infotriever recognizes the time zone you are in, and shifts the event by 5 hours to ensure that it is inserted at the right time.

Most travel providers are not in a position to fulfill condition # 2 outlined above by providing the time zones of all of the cities worldwide at different dates during the year (to account for seasonal time changes) which we can use to offset the time insertions accordingly.  Thus, departure times will generally be listed in itineraries without any specification of the time zone, as is the case for paper/printed itineraries.

If you are traveling across time zones, the lack of time zone information will manifest itself in two ways:  A) the durations of the flight may be incorrect, as the departure time will be in the time of the city of departure, and the arrival time will be in the time of the city of arrival; and B) if you change the time zone on your computers when you travel, the times of the flights will be shifted in your calendar (if you do not shift the time zone on your computer, this should not create any impact as you will view everything from the perspective of the time zone you are in at the time).

In terms of workarounds, for item A please keep in mind that the times are shown for the local departure or arrival city.  For B, you may choose to not change the time zones on your computer when you travel across time zone, or simply be aware of the time zone differences and manually shift the flight time.

This is not our preferred solution.  We continue to explore this issue, and we are seeking resolutions for it.

Q: Automatic Updates:  Can I get automatic updates to the Infotriever events and contacts in my organizer?

A: Yes and no. Infotriever has the capability to deliver updates for any Infotriever event or contact. However, in certain cases, the Infotriever-enabled partner does not have the ability to recognize and deliver updates to your information. In such cases, you can still obtain the update by returning to the original place where you obtained your download, and downloading again.
