Q: I cannot install your software because an ActiveX control is not safe. What can I do to get around this?
A: You will need to adjust the security settings on your browser to medium. Please do the following:
- Go to the tools drop down in Internet Explorer, and click on Internet Options.
- Click on the Security tab and adjust your settings for Security Level for this Zone to medium. This setting will not compromise your security as you will be prompted before downloading any ActiveX controls that may be marked as unsafe.
Q: When I attempt to install Infotriever I receive a “C++ Runtime Error “ and the installation aborts (using Windows NT or Windows 2000).
A: The issue is with an operating system file named COMCAT.DLL. This file is located in your C:\Winnt\System32 directory and is an important component for many Windows programs, including the Infotriever installation.
The first thing you should try is to manually register this file. Please try the following steps to verify the problem:
- Go to START - RUN.
- Type 'regsvr32 C:\Winnt\system32\comcat.dll' in the command line. You should receive a DllRegisterServer succeeded message. It should have registered with no errors.
- If you receive an error message that this file is corrupted,. we suggest that you apply/reapply the latest service pack for Windows.
