Q: When I use Infotriever to add information to Lotus Notes, a dialog box pops up, and I have to enter my password each time. Is there a way to avoid this?

A:

  • From within Lotus Notes, go to File, Tools, and then User ID.
  • Check the Don't prompt for a password from other Notes-based programs box. For Notes 4.5/4.6 users, the option description is "Share password with Notes add-ins".

Once this box is checked, it will no longer ask for a password on every inserted event or contact.

Q: I have Lotus Notes 5 and when I try to download items to my local calendar I get a dialog box telling me to select the location of Lotus Notes mail database file.

A:

You need to specify the full path to the local mail file. To verify the path:

  • Click on FILE - PREFERENCES-LOCATION PREFERENCES.  A Tabbed dialog appears.
  • Click the Mail Tab.
  • The mail file will be mail\(username).nsf.  Change this setting to included the full path to the file.  (For example C:\Lotus\Notes\data\(username).nsf.)

This option only applies if you have configured the Infotriever Notes plugin to insert to a local database file (i.e. on your own computer and not a server based database.)

Q: I use Lotus Notes and I periodically have trouble adding items to my Calendar. What should I do?

A:

First, verify that you configured Infotriever to use the appropriate Notes database file. To check your Notes configuration in Infotriever, perform the following steps:

  • Right mouse click on the Infotriever Icon in the System Tray.
  • Select Preferences in the menu. A tabbed dialog box appears.
  • Under the Organizer tab you will see Notes as your selected Organizer. Click on the button labeled Configure beside the organizer dropdown.
  • Select the correct location for your Notes database, either locally or on the mail server.

Always ensure that you logged in correctly are running Notes in the current mode when you attept to use Infotriever to add items to your calendar or contacts.

If these two suggestions do not resolve the issue, then please answer the following Notes specific configuration questions and send the results to service@infotriever.com:

  • Are you running Notes on a desktop or a laptop?
  • Is the Notes database you are asked to login your default database for Calendars information?
  • Do you have a database file on a Notes Domino server, on a local drive, or both?
  • Do you access multiple Notes databases?
  • What mode were you running in (e.g. online, local, etc.)?
  • Is this Notes install a shared installation?

If possible, we would like to get a copy of your notes.ini (configuration settings) file to attempt to replicate your Notes configuration.  Please also send the Infotriever log files (ifblog.txt and ifblog2.txt) from your C:\Program Files\Infotriever\Agent\data\[your user] folder.
